Top 10 Moments In Music 2013

2. 2013 Was The Year Of Comebacks

David Bowie Daft Punk wasn't the only band to make a comeback this year, as we saw several artists make surprising returns that made many of us double take. Justin Timberlake made a similar return to the music scene, after spending the last seven years trying to be a big movie star, only to be moderately successful, instead of the usual, world-ending success he was more familiar with. His new album 'The 20/20 Experience' was as good a return to form as ever, selling just shy of a mil in its first week, making it the biggest selling album of the year. We also saw David Bowie return after ten years with his album, 'The Next Day', and even though you'd think the dude would be burnt out by now, his recent work was just as popular as ever. Other less notable comebacks made throughout the year came from Fallout Boy, Black Sabbath, Boards of Canada, Bernard Fanning and Queens of the Stone Age. But the most unexpected, and successful, comeback of the year definitely goes to alternative rock band, My Bloody Valentine. The band's last album came out in 1991 - that's before most of you reading were born - and after 22 years, they randomly decided they'd give the whole music thing another crack. One of the most important bands of the '90s, often referred to as one of many pioneers of alternative rock at the time, their latest album, 'm b v', had been in the works since 1996. No one would have ever expected it to make the impact it did after such a prolonged release, when many of the band's original fanbase had slowly been dissipating, and given up on it ever being released, but somehow, they managed to pull it off, and 'm b v' was another one of the standout LP's this year.
