3. The Triumphant, And Unexpected, Return Of Daft Punk
By 2013, eight years had passed since Daft Punk's last album, and the world was starting to wonder if we'd ever see our favorite mysterious house duo again. They'd scored the soundtrack to 'Tron: Legacy', which was admittedly awesome, but we were desperate for another entry into their discography. And this year, our collective hunger was finally satisfied. The long awaited return of Daft Punk was not only celebrated simply due to their almost decade long hiatus, but because of just how drastically the duo had reinvented themselves. Known for redefining the dance genre once already, the sound off their new album, 'Random Access Memories', was a new, fresh take that many proclaimed would change the game once again. The hit single 'Get Lucky' was arguably the anthem of the year, and I'm still having difficulty getting that catchy hook out of my head, with its clever mix of old school disco and distinct electronica sound. The album was met with universal acclaim, and was even being touted as the rockin' robot's best work yet. It had been a long time coming, but Random Access Memories more than made up for the band's absence from the industry and looked to seperate itself from everything that came before it. Another contender for Album of the Year, 'Random Access Memories' is nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2013, including the aforementioned, coveted title.
