Trivium: Ranking All 9 Albums From Worst To Best

3. The Sin And The Sentence

Bringing together the ferocity of Ascendancy, the multifaceted structures of Shogun and the godly vocals of Silence in the Snow, Sin & the Sentence is everything the band have ever done, perfected and rolled into one.

Production is immaculate, Corey and Matt are playing at a level of skill that defies belief and simply challenges you to keep up. Heafy has once again been training his voice to scream "properly" thanks to a vocal coach, and the results are some of the most powerful and impressive he's ever recorded. Other Worlds in particular marks the highest note he's laid down.

Tracks like Betrayer, The Wretchedness Inside, Thrown Into the Fire and the end of Sin and The Sentence are so gratifying and sonically impressive to hear from an intensity standpoint, too.

From beginning to end there's not a single second you're not glad to take in on The Sin and The Sentence - not a single part where a lyric, note, drum beat or conceptual idea doesn't come through.

How many bands so far into their careers can you say that for? It's simply astonishing.

Oh, Alex Bent is an absolute WEAPON:
