Wale is at his best when he doesnt worry about dumbing down, and on 88 the audience has to catch up because he isnt slowing down either. Im in my Laneys but nothing JV about this balling - here Wale is referencing when Michael Jordan attended Laney High School, where he famously played for the Junior Varsity squad, while contrasting that he owns a pair of Laney 5s which is the fifth signature shoe in Jordans collection. But dont dare call him a Junior Varsity rapper! 88 is one of the highlights of The Gifted album of 2013.
