Now for a project which at time of writing is still ongoing but has already met the funding target. No More Woof is a piece of technology proposed by NSID, a Scandinavian company. They've previously had a write up in magazines such as Wired and are keen to point out that the point of this crowdsourcing effort is to fund the research into the devices. That is to say they don't have any devices being mass produced for market just yet. So what is No More Woof? In short it's a device that aims to translate the thought patterns of dogs and verbalise them using a headset powered by a Raspberry Pi. In short a dog translator. The versions they are giving out as perks are essentially prototypes, but they hope that in a couple of years they'll be able to bring something properly to market. As I said before, it has already reached the funding target of $10,000 on indiegogo, and in fact is now around the $20,000 mark. It is an interesting and radical idea that is something of a science fiction thing because after all, once you having the technology working for dogs then you could potentially start applying it to other animals. Twenty years from now we could be having conversations with dolphins. Very cool.
