7. Zombies!!!

A great gateway game to play if you want to get horror fans into board gaming (although if they're into genre then chances are they're already hooked), Zombies!!! mixes the shambling dread and social commentary of a George A. Romero film with the giddy terror and backstabbing that comes with putting your life in the hands of your mates - and a couple of dice.

Unlike traditional board games, the tiles of the board are laid out as you play, constructing a post-apocalyptic town as your band of survivors explores it and fights off the zombie horde. The goal of the game is to either make it to the helipad square when it appears and get the hell out of dodge or simply kill 25 undead folks, which is easier said than done.

Many expansions have been released for the game since it first came out over a decade ago, including prison, school, military and even alien sets, meaning you're rarely short of a new venue in which to rush your friends into a zombie-filled corner and squeal with delight as you fly off into the night.
