10 Awesome Board Games You Need To Play
6. Carcassonne
To look at a game of Carcassonne in progress without knowing what's happening, you might be forgiven for thinking a) that the game hadn't actually started yet or b) that it looks like the most boring activity ever invented by humankind.
Thankfully, that last statement could probably be applied to most games and we know not to judge on appearances. Named after the walled city in Southern France, the name of Carcassonne is the occupation of territories, namely fields, cities and roads. The board is built with tiles as play goes on, much like with Zombies!!!, and although much of the game's outcome can feel like it's down to luck, strategic placement of tiles can lead to victory for yourself and frustration for your opponents.
Another game that's simple and easy to pick up, Carcassonne rarely takes longer than the length of a movie and can accomodate 2-5 players.
