10 Awesome Board Games You Need To Play

5. Dixit

Libellud

Good practice for budding authors, Dixit is a game all about telling stories. Players are given cards with illustrations on them that can be interpreted in a variety of ways, and must take it in turns to tell a story describing one of theirs.

Similarly to Cards Against Humanity, the other players must pick a card from their hand that they feel best matches the story that€™'s just been told. Once all the cards have been laid out, all the players (except the storyteller) place chips on the cards they think go best with the story, and points are allocated according to whether or not they were accurate or not.

Another card-heavy game, Dixit€™s board exists mainly as a scoreboard, with players represented by little rabbit figures that are moved along a numbered path. It sounds simple, but the real trick of Dixit is in telling a story that'€™s not too obviously linked to the orator€™s own card,€“ as they don€™'t get any points if everyone chooses their's, and not too obscure that no-one will get it right.
