10 Best Bill Murray Stories (That Nobody Believes Actually Happened)

5. The One Where He Crashed A Party And Washed The Dishes

Life imitates art in this story; for example, Bill Murray meets a girl in a foreign country, they hit it off and she invites him to a party with people half his age. Sound familiar? If you've seen Lost in Translation then you'll know what we're talking about. In 2006, this is exactly what happened when Murray was in St. Andrews, Scotland for a special golf event. The avid golfer decided to take a break from his clubs and decided to spend the evening wandering the local area, which is where he bumped into a young Norwegian student called Lykee Stavnef. The two began chatting and the star managed to wrangle himself an invitation to her house party in a nearby Georgian townhouse. Stavnef and her friends were obviously astonished when Murray turned up, and he even offered to cook and wash the dishes. Apparently he was in his element surrounded by young people all night, cracking jokes and drinking vodka from of a coffee cup, and he actually even washed the dishes before leaving. Amazingly, this isn't rare as there are countless stories of Murray crashing parties around New York City and offering fatherly advice, so if you see him out and about, you know what to do. Naturally, when news broke everyone from the surrounding area decided to join the party to get a look at the Groundhog Day star and the only thing that was missing was some karaoke. At least on this night anyway...
