10 Best Fantasy Worlds In Fiction

1. Homeplace to the War of the Ring - Middle-Earth

Middle earth Shadow of War
New Line Cinema

There is no other fantasy setting that compares, mainly down to the fact that the modern landscape of the genre is built upon the foundations that this epic land created. Any fantasy property is inescapable from comparison with Middle-Earth, and in many cases, this is even something that the creators of these lands had in mind. Middle-Earth truly is the template for how to craft a world of fantasy.

Whilst many people know the land for being the basis of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series, it is of course so much more. A well-tuned and built world from the icon of the genre J.R.R Tolkien, Middle-Earth is an entire existence that has every aspect of its details figured out. It feels alive and real, to the extent that many people think of it as a place they wish they could live.

The stories that Tolkien filled this world with are lovely and are some of the best examples of fantasy to this date. But Middle-Earth is not the place created to be the setting for these stories, it is the focus of the series, and the stories simply happen to be where you step in.
