9. Inside Of You #57 - Elvira

The Joe Rogan Experience #1255 - Alex Jones

Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum has quietly become one of the most interesting podcasts out there.

Rosenbaum is best known for playing Lex Luthor in Smallville, in addition to roles in the likes of Urban Legend, Breaking In, Impastor, and as the voice of Wally West in so many animated DC Comics projects. But in recent years, the hugely entertaining New Yorker has turned his hand to podcasting.

With each episode of Inside of You, Michael Rosenbaum interviews a different celebrity from across a wide range of mediums and industries. The podcast itself is always captivating, but Cassandra Peterson's appearance on the show earlier this year made for a truly special listen.

Of course, the chat covers Cassandra's time as the iconic Elvira, yet Rosenbaum steers the conversation to deeper waters and discusses a whole host of topics that include Peterson's journey into the entertainment business, her troubled family life, the problems of alcoholism, LSD trips, losing her virginity to Tom Jones, being so close to having sex with Elvis, how the Elvira character stopped her from quitting show business, turning down Playboy's $1 million offer in 1984, Rosenbaum's own fandom for horror, and plenty more.

For nearly 40 years, Cassandra Peterson as Elvira has been a pop culture icon who perfectly captures what so many people love about the horror genre. Rarely, however, has Cassandra opened up to the extent of her May 2019 conversation with Michael Rosenbaum.

It's testament to Rosenbaum as an interviewer and how he makes his guests feel at ease by his own openness that listeners got such a unique look into the life of Cassandra Peterson - and it was a chat that so many people can get so much from, whether they're an Elvira fan or not.
