10 Best True Crime Podcasts Everyone Must Listen To

6. The Teacher's Pet

Heading Down Under, the Teacher’s Pet is another of the top true crime podcasts from Australia. It’s hosted by journalist Hedley Thomas, who investigates the disappearance of Lynette Dawson in 1982 with a series of interviews with a mixture of law enforcement and family members.

The podcast not only covers the story of Lynette’s disappearance, but has a real sense of place. It puts your right in 1980’s Australia (more specifically the Gold Coast). While this sun-kissed idyllic place is undoubtedly a top holiday destination, living there at the time wouldn’t have been ideal – with rampant misogyny and teachers dating students not being out of the ordinary.

The accused moved a 16-year-old student into this home following Lynette’s death, later making her the stepmother to his children.

Chris Dawson, the former rugby player, high school coach, and husband of Lynette, is currently standing trial for the murder, so the story isn’t over just yet.
