9. The Hotel At The End Of The Road
This story concerns two gangsters, Tommy Riviera and Kelso Black, who are on the run and take refuge at a dodgy motel for the night. The owner however does not want to be paid in money. He wants two men to join his museum of the dead.
That is all that is known of this story. In a way, it is not entirely dissimilar to the final episode of Black Mirror's fourth season, Black Museum. This episode tells the story of a dark place, containing only the most disturbing of items, now billed as tourist attractions for travelers on the road.
The idea is certainly creepy, though it is perhaps a little easy to understand why this was not adapted into a full novel. While being chased by a mad motel manager is unsettling enough, the thread is quite open as to where it can go. That said, throw in a little betrayal, some supernatural elements and a few trapdoors and you could end up with an establishment wild enough to rival the Overlook Hotel.
