10 Biggest Lies On Online Dating Profiles

1. Seeing Someone

Dating websites are a failure when it comes to weeding out the girls who are in relationships or, worse yet, married. Tell it you're only looking for girls who are single and watch as half the matches it churns out are attached. At least that's my experience. Having seen so many girls listed as "seeing someone," I started to wonder what their motivation could possibly be. Sure, they say they're just looking for friends (or, in some cases, partners for potential threesomes), but I have my doubts. The way I see it, it's their way of covering their bases, of keeping their options open. In this case, I speak directly from experience. Recently, I happened upon a friend of a friend on the site who I knew to be in a relationship. Out of curiosity, I gave her profile a look and saw that not only did she list herself as single, but she was also a frequent user of the site, having last been online within an hour of when I visited her profile. This was the same girl who, when I met her, was talking about her boyfriend as if she planned on marrying him some day. With that in mind, I think it's understandable that I would be wary, from that point on, of any girl who says she's "seeing someone" yet remains an active user. Further, if you happen to be dating such a girl, let's just say you probably shouldn't get too attached. Thus ends my look into the copious amounts of double-talk one can find on each trip to OkCupid. Here's to hoping that, if you use the site, you can find some honesty amid all the lies.
