10 Biggest Scandals In American Politics
3. Benghazi
If Americans could be united by one thing, it would probably be patriotism. They love their country and believe those who sacrifice themselves for it are heroes.
So when four Americans, including a U.S. ambassador, were killed at Benghazi with no reasonable explanation, the public took notice.
What followed was a very long, extremely thorough, and incredibly damning report that implicated Obama's administration, namely then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for gross negligence.
It is now known that several months prior to the attack, Ambassador Chris Stevens made multiple requests for additional reinforcements to the compound, but instead had his American security team personnel reduced by nearly 70%. It is also known that the attack was in no way a spontaneous retaliation for an anti-Mohammed Youtube video as first claimed.
However, it was Clinton's infamous line she gave at her congressional hearing, which caused the most controversy when she said, "At this point what difference does it make?"
