2. Wikileaks
For the average person, the Internet is an incredible source of entertainment and maybe even a tool for making money. For governments, it's a scary minefield filled with hackers, and that has never been truer with the rise of Wikileaks.
Wikileaks is a website created by Julian Assange, a fugitive declared once to be a "cyber-terrorist" by the American government, who now spends his days sequestered in Ecuador's London embassy.
The website isn't lying when it says, "We open governments." Perhaps a significant player in the 2016 Presidential Election, Assange has been a huge thorn in the side of Hillary Clinton's campaign, releasing hacked emails containing compromising information from her campaign staff and the DNC (Democratic National Committee) on a nearly daily basis leading up to the election.
When asked for his thoughts on Republican nominee, Donald Trump, Assange shrugged, "...it's really hard for us to release anything worse than what comes out of Donald Trump's mouth every second day..."
