Some twenty miles away from trendy Portland lies the quiet community of Boring, a self-proclaimed 'exciting place to call home'. You can pick up some plants at the Boring Garden Centre, stop for some tasty food at Boring Teriyaki and Subs, or even get hammered at The Not So Boring Bar and Grill. What more could one need? The town is named after one riotous gentleman by the name of William H Boring, a civil war veteran who made the area his home in the 1900s. Proving that the Boring powers that be at least have a sense of humour, the town was twinned in 2012 with Dull in Scotland in an attempt to boost tourism to both of these openly underwhelming areas of the world. Yawn.
