10 Botched Crimes That Went Hilariously Wrong

8. Updating Facebook Friends About Successful Fraud

Maxi Sopo was on the run from authorities, after falsely obtaining over $200,000 from banks and credit unions. He'd all but got away with it, and was living a life of partying and fun around the beaches of Cancun. Fortunately for anyone interested in justice, Maxi Sopo was also immensely stupid. Discontent with simply getting away with his crime and reaping the rewards, Sopo began posting to Facebook about how great it was living in Cancun. Even more puzzlingly, he also added a former Justice Department official to his friends list. As you can probably guess, Sopo was reported and thrown in a Mexico City jail to await extradition on bank fraud charges. "LIFE IS VERY SIMPLE REALLY!!!!" wrote Sopo in one of his Facebook updates. "BUT SOME OF US HUMANS MAKE A MESS OF IT...REMEMBER AM JUST HERE TO HAVE FUN PARTEEEEEEE." Spoken like a true moron.
