10 "Bucket List" Tourist Attractions That Are Totally Overrated
6. The Four Corners Monument - Southwest, United States
The real shock about the Four Corners Monument is not that it's overrated, but rather the fact that it's considered a tourist destination at all. When you go to this hallowed ground, you are standing at the exact spot where four states meet. That's. It. There's nothing else there. It's just a spot on the ground, arbitrary markers that separate Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. Unless you're a real enthusiast for state lines, this probably isn't even a good call as a rest stop along the way to somewhere else. The real crime is that there are so many cool things to see and do in the American Southwest, and the idea that anyone would waste time here is just upsetting. From here, you could be at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument or the Grand Canyon in just a few short hours. Go there instead. Spend the extra time it would take to get to the Four Corners Monument staring at the ridiculously gorgeous views Arizona and Utah have to offer. You won't regret it.
