You probably know that Phil Collins was one of the biggest solo artists in the world in the 1980's, was the drummer and lead singer in Genesis and has even won an Oscar. But did you know he's also the owner of the world's largest private collection of Alamo-era documents and artifacts? Collins has more than a hobbyist's interest in the famous battle, though. The musician believes himself to be the reincarnation of John W. Smith, a messenger and soldier who fought at the Alamo. He was apparently told this by a "spiritual clairvoyant" he met at a party. I'm sure we've all been there. Who among us hasn't believed everything a weird stranger at a party has told us? He offered further proof in an interview with American History magazine, where he stated that as a child he reenacted the Battle of the Alamo with his toy soldiers as a kid. Well, that clearly settles it.
