Despite their age gap, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have enjoyed one of the most enduring Hollywood romances of all time - after marrying in 2000 it wasn't until last year that the first signs that their relationship might be on the rocks emerged in the gossip columns. They also survived - in perhaps more ways than one - the obsessive attention of one of the most well-publicized celebrity stalkers of the 21st century - Dawnette Knight. Problems for the Hollywood couple began when Knight developed an unhealthy fixation on Michael Douglas, and the more she fell in love with him, the more inevitable the situation would end up reminding people of Fatal Attraction. Knight soon began stalking the one obstacle she perceived to be standing between her and the love of her life, Catherine Zeta-Jones - it wasn't long before she started sending her death threats, including ones in which she threatened to cut up the actress "like Sharon Tate" and feed her to the dogs. Knight attempted suicide while in custody following her arrest, and issued an apology to the couple through her attorney asking them for her forgiveness and describing herself as "a confused young woman infatuated with Michael Douglas."
