10 Comedy Podcasts You Need To Listen To Right Now
8. The Russell Brand Podcast
Ignoring the controversial conclusion to his BBC career, Russell Brand had spent several years amassing an incredible and hilarious archive of Radio gold, with the podcast collection of his collected 6Music and Radio 2 broadcasts still available to download in darker corners of the internet.
Required listening if you can find them, the typically verbose and grandstanding comedian was constantly brought back down to earth via his longstanding friendship with broadcast sidekick Matt Morgan, who stripped away at Brand's pretension with razor sharp precision.
Welcoming regular guests on such as Noel Gallagher, Noel Fielding and Jon Ronson, plus surrealist observations from original co-host Trevor Lock, the show was a runaway success on both stations before the infamous 2008 'Sachsgate' furore unfortunately forced its immediate removal from schedules.
Their chemistry made for hundreds of hours of underrated and under-appreciated content, but if those old shows do prove too elusive, a brief 2015 reunion with the pair and their regular collaborator Greg "Mr Gee" Sekweyama for the podcast network Audioboom make a suitable replacement and are still freely available to download through all the usual channels.
