10 Craziest Stories Told On Marc Maron's WTF Podcast
7. Aubrey Plaza Survived A Stroke
Aubrey Plaza first found prominence with her role as April Ludgate on NBC's hit show Parks and Recreation, a part that was written specifically for her after she impressed showrunners Greg Daniels and Mike Schur. She was considered one of the breakouts of the show and her performance quickly became a fan favourite.
She was the guest on a 2011 episode of WTF, in which she talked to Marc about her career, her early life, as well as her experience surviving a stroke at age 20. It caused her temporary paralysis and partial speech loss for a short period. She then suffered another smaller stroke on the set of Parks and Recreation a few years later.
It's an interesting thing to learn that an actress as successful and beloved as Plaza went through such a serious and frightening health scare and came out the other side relatively unscathed.
