Along with his partner and human familiar, Straker, the duo pose as antiques dealers and set up shop in Salems Lot. At first, only Straker travelled to town. After making a human sacrifice in advance of his master, Straker had Barlow shipped to America. Once in Salems Lot, Barlow began a campaign of terror, turning the townspeople into vampires and all but rendering the town dead. If not for the intervention of author Ben Mears, Barlows devilish infection may escalated beyond this tiny hamlet and spread to other parts of America.
