10 Creepiest Hauntings At Hampton Court Palace
6. Skeletor
In 2003, a sighting of a ghostly looking figure was caught on CCTV as they slammed open a fire door near the palace’s clock court. The fire door flying open occurred for three consecutive days.
The day prior to this, the CCTV footage showed the doors flying wide open with brute force but no evidence could tell why. The second day, with the footage above, it showed a ghostly figure in period dress suddenly appear and close the doors. The doors opened again the third day but there was no further sign of the ghostly doorkeeper.
It wasn’t just the security guards who noticed a supernatural spirit. On the second day of the occurrence, a visitor wrote in the palace’s visitor book that she thought she had spotted a ghost in the area. The footage caught the attention of global media, with reports as far as Peru, Australia and India. The supposed ghost has since been nicknamed “Skeletor”.
Some have claimed this case wasn’t believable enough because the ghost wasn’t floating, some even going as far as saying it was staged by the palace to increase the interests in “Ghost tours”. No one has admitted to this being a prank but the security remains baffled.
