Jane Seymour, Henry’s third wife, finally gave birth to what he most desired – a male heir. It was only two weeks after that Jane died from childbirth complications. The king was devastated that the woman he described as ‘the perfect queen’ died and couldn’t raise the infant son with him.

She may been buried in St George's Chapel, Windsor but she never truly left the palace. There have been recurring sightings of Jane’s apparition on the silverstick stairs, the set of stairs which lead to the room where she both gave birth and then passed away in two weeks later.

Those who have witnessed the ghost of Jane Seymour have felt a strong sense of loss and sorrow as she pitifully climbs the stairs whilst clutching a candle. Jane is also known to sometimes roam the palace gardens.
