10 Creepy Animated Horror Shorts To Watch This Halloween
1. Spook Train
A set of horrifying shorts, Lee Hardcastle's Spook Train is only allowed on YouTube due to the claymation format - because this level of gore would be demonetised and/or banned otherwise.
Something of an anthology, though with only two short films (so far), Spook Train involves nightmarish stories and equally nightmarish claymation monsters, though in contrast to the other claymation work on this list, each has its own clever narrative that is as satisfying to watch from start to finish as it is distressing.
The first and arguably more well-known short is entitled Curtains, and involves an old woman, cared for by her only remaining son, attacked by horrific nightmare demons when she's left alone after dark.
The second short, entitled Cell - X - , involves a lot more faeces than the first, and involves a horrible and dirty prison setting with human cruelty as terrible as the monsters found within.
Both are masterful short horror films, incorporating elements of suspense as well as gore and harrowing encounters with monsters, and a healthy amount of black comedy, and both are definitely worth viewing this Halloween.
