10 Creepy Animated Horror Shorts To Watch This Halloween
2. Something Scary
Ironically the least scary in the list, tamer and more accessible to general audiences yet still effectively creepy, Something Scary is a semi-animated series of scary stories from the channel Snarled, narrated by the gentle yet gleeful creator, Sapphire.
From urban legends to world mythology, Sapphire presents each scary story with an appealing 2D style, able to show off terrifying visuals while still holding wider appeal, with excellent and creepy sound design and enough stories to make Something Scary a consistent fixture of the drawing side of the YouTube community.
Though still presenting some more mature themes, Sapphire's style is welcoming to anyone who wants to get into horror but wants to ease into it, both her voice and art a lot less viscerally troubling than others on this list.
Not to say Sapphire isn't capable of truly horrific work, however. Though Snarled's videos are mostly drawn and barely animated, Sapphire has produced one fully animated project, "Kahadlokan Nga Estorya" that can also be found on YouTube. Showcasing her love for the horrifying monster stories of her own Filipino heritage, it's worth the watch for its delightful and culturally unique horror.
