10 Fascinating Facts About Alcohol You Didn't Know

2. Alcohol Can Be Good For Your Health

When people think of healthy living they tend to think of what their doctor might say and go the teetotal route, abstaining completely from anything alcoholic. But as the strength and endurance of the men who built the pyramids seems to suggest, drinking booze could actually be better for you than you might think. A leading scientist called Tony Edwards released a report which indicated that the occasional tipple could not only stave off cancer but also improve your sex life (although as most of us know, too much of a tipple is rarely a good thing in the bedroom department). Red wine is of course the best, but most alcoholic drinks in moderation can improve your body's resistance to disease and infection and even help you live longer. The findings were no doubt a great excuse for millions of recovering alcoholics to crack open a bottle of champagne - a few drinks later no doubt the less welcome side-effects started to rear their ugly heads. At least they'd remain far less susceptible than teetotallers for catching a cold.
