Alright you fans of all things elvish; here you go. Pray for Elves - yes, that really is its scientific name - is a gene that gets its name from scientist Suzanne Lewis wishing for magic elves to come and finish her research for her while she slept:
"The name for my gene is Pray For ElvesIt is the middle of the night (2:38 to be precise), I am away from friends and family, it has been this way for over 2 years, I cant sleep because of all the work there is yet to do, and there is no end in sight. So when do the magic little elves appear out of nowhere and get everything done?
-S P.S. I am serious." The gene itself is a mutation of a group of ocelli cells atop the heads of fruit flies, which are three small photoreceptors, but the gene itself has nothing to do with the reason for its named, just the researcher being one-hundred percent done with everything. Here's to hoping that all of our work will be magically finished by the likes of Legolas and Dobby.
