Operation Parallax was a government plan to resynchronise the British calendar with the rest of the world. Ever since British Summer Time was introduced, back in 1945, Britain had gradually become 48 hours ahead of the rest of the world.

To remedy this the British government decided to cancel the 5th and 12th of April of that year.

It was of course a hoax dreamed up by London’s Capital Radio station.

Capital Radio received many calls. One caller asked if she had to pay her employees for the missing days.
