10 Hidden Details In Disneyland You Probably Didn’t Know
2. Micky’s Feline Friends
It’s funny to think that the very creature that hunts mice are employed solely for that purpose by the Disney big wigs - sorry Micky.
Every now and then during the busy day you may cross paths with a little furry feline, but this is not just a lost tabby, in fact, it is just another cast member. If you were to visit the park after hours, their numbers multiply tenfold.
Upon opening the Cali-base, Walt and the team noticed a large collection of ferrel cats roaming the grounds and upon further inspection, these toms were actually keeping a rather pestering rodent problem at bay.
Instead of letting the cats roam wildly, Walt collected all of the cats, gave them a health check up, spayed them and vaccinated the kitties before rereleasing them into the park grounds. See it as the Disney induction programme for this new branch of cast members. The cats are given regular healthy checks and kept up to date with their boosters as part of the ‘perks’ of the job.
