10 Hilarious Lies North Korea Told The World

9. Democracy Flourishes In The Totalitarian Nation

One of the most recent stories to hit the headlines from the wonderful nation was of the incredible democratic process and utterly unquestionable integrity of leader, Kim Jong-un. In a nation fraught with documented human rights abuses, secret-not-so-secret murders, exploitation and atrocities that even Dr Evil himself would likely shy away from, 100% of the 99.97% of its people danced and sang on the way to voting in favour of keeping Kim Jong-un in power.

Compare that to the 66.1% turnout in the UK in 2015, the 58% in the USA in 2012 and even in Australia, where it is illegal to not vote, the turnout hovers just under 95% and it would seem that totalitarianism is a far more effective method of getting people involved in politics than anything we have in the West.

Despite the fact that most of the nation were likely 'encouraged' to vote with a gun to their head, the truly audacious claims made by the media are that the people had been heard and that they wanted Kim Jong-un. It's particularly audacious since the ballot papers only had Kim Jong-un's name on them.

Nowhere in the world is democracy done quite like in North Korea.
