10 Hollywood Stars You Didn't Know Were Real Life Heroes

4. Brad Pitt Stops A Boy From Falling In The Venice Canals

Brad Pitt is no stranger to playing the hero €“ from keeping Metro City safe in Megamind (at least, until Metro Man decides to hang up his cape in the first act and exchange it for a guitar) to finding the antidote that will bring an end to the zombie apocalypse in World War Z, Pitt's characters know a thing or two about saving the world. And, if you believe the hype in the press, like Tom Hanks and Gerard Butler he's also saved a boy from drowning. While promoting the Coen Brothers' Burn After Reading along with George Clooney at the Venice Film Festival, a young autograph hunter nearly fell into the lake €“ Pitt reportedly reached out and grabbed him at the last second, preventing his fall. He then proceeded to sign his autograph book for him before slipping off onto the red carpet. Cynical readers might justifiably ponder quite how this act counts as real heroics, since had the boy actually fallen into the lake presumably he could easily have been pulled out €“ but let's not allow basic logic and common sense get in the way of the tabloid mentality of making a sensational mountain out of a molehill.
