Three teenage girls were spending their Halloween evening like countless others their age, trick-or-treating in Woodbridge, Virginia. While walking home, the three girls were approached by a man, Aaron Thomas, holding a lighter that looked like a gun. He took them to a woody area nearby, and ordered the three girls to lie face down on the ground. He then sexually assaulted two of the victims, but one managed to text her mother during the ordeal. Thomas fled the scene after realising they had made contact, but was caught by police shortly after.
