Yoshihiro Hattori was a foreign exchange student living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On the Halloween of 1992, Hattori met with fellow exchange student Webb Haymaker, as they set off to visit a party that evening. Upon arriving at the house of the party, Hattori and Haymaker received no response from partygoers after knocking on the front door a few times. The two decided to make their way to the back of the house and enter that way. Haymaker was shocked to see Hattori suddenly hit by a bullet fired by the house's owner, who had assumed the two students were burglars. Hattori was pronounced dead at the scene.
