7. New Value Resort

I've heard no rumours on this and it's pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if a new value resort was announced in the next couple of years. So here's why I think it could happen.

Currently it's safe to say Disney are focusing on more affluent guests with its focus on upcharges and the building of moderate and deluxe resorts. This is quite a comparison to Universal Orlando Resort who are in the process of building two "prime value" hotels that will cost as little as $73 a night for a standard room and $111 for a two bed suite. Universal have also just opened the Aventura Hotel, their second "value" hotel.

Personally, I think Universal are trying to catch the influx of visitors that are almost certainly going to spill into the area when Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens. Given that Disney's cheapest hotels start at $97 per night, many may feel it's worth staying offsite and commuting into Disney. After all the cost of Ubers or car hire might work out cheaper for many than staying onsite.

If this turns out to be the case that many choose to abandon Disney hotels and move over to Univesal, Disney will more than likely choose to expand their own value resort range.

As someone who loves to stay in the Disney bubble but prefers low-key theming, Disney are missing out on a basic hotel that get the onsite benefits. If Disney had their own large scale ultra value hotel it would draw a number of fans who have been priced out with all the recent price increases. Universal are proving that you can offer a decent standard of value without compromising too much on quality. You don't have to have to be a dive motel to appeal to a lower income market.

I get that Disney is focused on those guests with more disposable income, but they could very well be losing out a large market to its rivals up the street if they choose to ignore those who are after a cheaper vacation.
