Although I don't think that Disney will completely get rid of free FastPasses, it seems certain that there will be paid FastPasses coming in the future.

Currently you can pay $50 per guest/per day FastPasses for an extra three if you are staying in on-site Club level rooms. You must purchase these for a minimum of 3 days so that's $150 for each person. That cost quickly adds up when you start thinking about travelling as a family. This is likely to just be a test for the time being, but if it's popular then it'll probably be expanded.

Disneyland Paris has just announced Disney Access One where guests can pay €15 per attraction to purchase a "no time slot" FastPass for one attraction. You also receive a souvenir to go with your Disney Access One ticket. Personally, I wouldn't pay this much to ride one attraction, but I imagine that in the Summer with long lines, many people will be taking advantage of this system.

With some rides at Disney reaching wait times of over 2 hours and FastPasses being gone at the 60 day mark, it wouldn't surprise me if Disney trialled something similar to Access One. Especially with rides like Flight of Passage or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Disney will likely receive a great deal of backlash if they did bring it in, but with the resort being one of the few theme parks that (with the exception of the Club level) don't charge for line skipping privileges, it's bound to come sooner or later.
