According to Google Ad Planner and a number of other surveys, the average Reddit user is an American Male in his twenties. One study found that the site was 86.7% male, with a median age of twenty four. It is supposedly 80% white, and most people would categorise themselves as Forever Alone. This is a pretty clear look at the type of people who apparently use the site. This figure fits the stereotype of the guy sitting in his bedroom observing the world through a window - much like Shia Labeouf in Disturbia. The survey went on to look at fitness figures and other irrelevant information to us, so it isn€™t a definitive sample of the users (because they are anonymous.) The study was filled out by enough people to make it plausible, and it matches other surveys findings on what the sites users tend to be like. This is a pretty bleak picture in terms of diversity, but it shows you quite who dominates the conversation on the gateway to the internet.
