10 Joe Rogan Experience Guests That Didn't Live Up To Expectations

5. Neil DeGrasse Tyson #1347

One of the things that makes a podcast a podcast in the case of the JRE is its back and forth nature, allowing Rogan and his guests to share ideas in a more free-flowing environment compared to more traditional forms of media.

However, this can be problematic when the guest treats their conversation more like an interview, giving Rogan little chance to expand on his input. This is forgivable for someone making their first appearance on the show but for a regular guest, it can be especially jarring.

This is what made Neil deGrasse Tyson's 2019 appearance on the JRE particularly disappointing. NDT had appeared on the podcast several times throughout the years offering his encyclopedic knowledge of all things science and engaging in goodnatured conversation, even with some of Rogan's more abstract ideas.

When he appeared on episode 1347 however, there was a palpable tension throughout due to deGrasse Tyson's consistent interrupting of Rogan. Despite Joe clearly being unhappy with being interrupted, NDT fails to pick up the social clues resulting in an uncomfortably hilarious montage of Joe attempting to wrestle the conversation back to normality to no avail.

Here's hoping that this interview was just a bizarre one-off and that Rogan and deGrasse Tyson can go on to have more great conversations going forward.
