The world is a colourful place from flowers and animals to manmade objects, colour can be found everywhere you look. However, some people are cripplingly afraid of colours, and this is known as chromophobia in general. People are usually not afraid of all colours, but of specific colours. For example, erythrophobia is the fear of the colour red, cholorophobia is fear of the colour green, and leukophobia is the fear of the colour white. Colours can produce hormonal responses and psychological reactions, which can explain some peoples phobias. However, it is likely that their irrational fear usually results from a traumatic experience that they associate with particular colours. Some animals also have an aversion to specific colour waves. For example, loggerhead sea turtles were found to have an aversion to light in the yellow end of the spectrum, thought to help them navigate back towards the blue ocean.
