If any individual is to thank for Cris Angel's meteoric rise to the top of the magician's hierarchy then that person is Clive Barker - the horror writer-director was one of his early supporters, asking him to help out on his film Lord of Illusions. In a similar vein the David Blaine, Angel's performing style encompasses a variety of illusions and tricks, with street performances and endurance feats proving to be among his most popular, escaping from water-filled tanks or hypnotising passersby.
