The black mamba gets its name from the pitch black colouring inside of its mouth and not the colour of its skin. The mamba will unlock its jaw presenting the midnight housing to its incredibly sharp fangs as a warning to anyone or anything within its territory.

Found in sub-Saharan Africa, the black mamba is a nervous creature, constantly on edge, which is why the snake has such an aggressive nature - the savage attack is a display of dominance.

The black mamba is the world’s deadliest snake due to its combination of speed, up to 12 miles per hour - faster than the average human can run - mixed with an incredibly lethal venom. A mere two drops able to kill a fully-grown human.

The venom is made up of neurotoxins and will systematically shut down the infected body until it is paralysed. The most dangerous aspect of the black mamba is that with each bite it can inject a larger quantity of venom than any other snake at a single time, which can kill in as little as seven hours.
