10 Most Disturbing Stories Told On Joe Rogan Experience

9. The False Imprisonment Of Nick Yarris

In episode #1171 of the Joe Rogan Experience, falsely imprisoned Nick Yarris describes himself as ‘harder than life, kinder than love.’ Retelling the story of how he was falsely serving a death sentence for the rape and murder of Linda Mae Craig in 1981, after foolishly trying to pin the crimes on someone else (Yarris, trying to reduce his own separate sentence of resisting arrest amongst other things, had accused a known drug dealer who he incorrectly believed was dead), Yarris was forced by Pennsylvania police to confess he was the actual killer and rapist.

Sentenced to over one hundred years in prison, as well as receiving the death penalty, Yarris improved his vocabulary and speaking skills in prison in the hope of eloquently explaining his side when he was about to die.

While inside, Yarris was transported to various prisons over twenty years and suffered an incomprehensible amount of trauma and abuse. On top of the two-year silence, and having his teeth beat out of his skull with a tire jack, it is the story about Gladiator Day which really depicts the inhuman treatment suffered by the falsely imprisoned man.

One day, alleged Yarris, four guard’s armed with bats entered his cell and told him he would have to fight another inmate inside a cage, or he would be beaten by them. Having no choice, Nick took part in the prison’s gladiatorial event, which apparently was used as a way for prisoners to vent their built frustrations.
