10 Most Insane Prison Breaks Of All Time

7. Jay Junior Sigler Trucks Away

The Great Escape
ReleasedCriminals

Jay Junior Sigler was eight years into a 20-year sentence when a huge truck driven by his friend John Beaston plughed through four security fences at Everglades Correctional Institution to rescue him.

The big rig was tailed by another vehicle driven by the inmate's mother Sandra, which the three piled into along with accomplices Christopher Michelson and Kelly Mitchell after firing at the onrushing guards with a shotgun. No, this isn't the plot of a Michael Bay movie. It actually happened, and things got even more dramatic from here.

After leaving the prison boundaries behind, the group swapped vehicles and split up. Jay and Michelson were apprehended after smashing into another car and killing its driver while being tailed by police.

Sandra, who was reported to have masterminded the escape at the time, was captured at a gas station several miles from the prison shortly after the car swap.
