10 Most Underrated Board Games You Should Play

5. Castle Panic

You are stuck in a tower, beset on all sides by an invading force of monsters. Kill them all. That's the gist of Castle Panic. Although all players share the objective of staying alive and protecting the tower only one player truly wins, the one with the most kills.

Castle Panic is very simple and can be played at almost any age, so it makes a really good introduction into games that are based on the idea of cooperation and working together against the game itself.

Players must attack monsters and repair fortifications using cards which can be traded between players to maximise their effect. At the end of each turn more monsters arrive on the board.

Many expansions and editions exist to add twists and depth to the game, but Castle Panic's real selling point is just how simple it is, and it could easily be used as in introduction into board games.

In a lot of ways it's a more fleshed out, analogue version of Space Invaders. The gameplay is nicely streamlined and a lot of fun.
