10 Most Underrated Board Games You Should Play

4. King Of Tokyo

Really this game is more like 'King of the Flattened Landscape that used to be Tokyo'.

KOT takes many elements from the Godzilla movies and superimposes them onto a board game setting. Players choose a giant baffling monster from a range including Cyber Bunny and Meka Dragon; and have to fight each other in order to become the titular King of Tokyo.

Players roll six dice to heal, attack other players, gain victory points and accumulate energy, which can be spent on special cards to make your defeat of your opposing monsters easier. These cards include handy buffs like a spiked tail, parasitic tentacles and a giant brain; as well as full-on attacks like a vast storm or an exploding gas refinery.

A king of the hill battle reminiscent of giant monster movies, but taken less seriously (if you can believe that). With the strategy elements being how a player decides to use a given roll gameplay is simple and the game's appeal is defined by its amazing art and premise.
