10 Problems Only People From Pittsburgh Would Understand
3. Immortal News Anchors
Batman villain Ra's Al-Ghul uses a Lazarus Pit to prolong his life way beyond normal measure. Being as Pittsburgh has been used as Gotham City, it can be assumed the Lazarus Pit is tucked away in the basement of a Pittsburgh news station. For some odd reason, the news anchors in this town last forever. Don Cannon was an anchor at WTAE for 25 years. Sally Wiggin has been with WTAE since 1980. The team of David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan are closing in on 26 years together at WPXI. Weatherman Joe DeNardo had such an impressive 45 year career at WTAE that the expression "Joe said it would" is still used in the lexicon when discussing local weather. Young folks looking to break into the news anchor profession should probably look elsewhere for job openings. These seasoned news hounds aren't going anywhere soon. Some of them have outlasted David Letterman. If you can't stand WPXI and WTAE news anchors, and you hate Donnie Iris, it may be time to pack a bag.
