10 Problems That Only 'Problem' Dog Owners Will Understand

2. Your Social Life Suffers - A Lot

Dogs will always affect your social life in one form or another, but there's plenty of friends/family/professional dog sitters that can step in and help. That's assuming, of course, you haven't got the kind of pet who only likes you and about two other people. If you want to go out for a few hours and the very limited pool of friends/family that are able to watch your dog are busy, then you're probably going to be staying in. Leaving them on their own is rarely a viable option as they're likely to destroy your home, all the home dog-proofing in the world isn't going to stop that happening. And you've been blacklisted by all the local dog-sitters and kennels. But think how happy your dog is to have another night in with you, maybe it's all a plan they came up with to stop you going out.
