Every single time a dog sees his owner after a brief time apart--brief could mean the time it takes to walk the trash can to the curb--that dog is reliving the final scene of Homeward Bound, where the family pets return from a weeklong adventure of being lost and desperately trying to get back to their family.

Now, sure, kids are excited to see their parents sometimes. Usually when they're particularly small and fragile and haven't reached the age where they can be self-sufficient and retrieve food for themselves. But do they freak out and run from room to room because they literally cannot contain their excitement? Do they rub their face in your crotch? Hope not. That'd be a weird kid.
